For those looking for a challenge, head over to the 1000 Steps in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The 1000 Steps boasts the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk which is a beautiful walking track with adjacent forested areas, bushlands and various scenic points. As the name suggests, the 1000 Steps includes stony steps that lead to the popular One Tree Hill; which starts at the cafe and leads up the top of the mountain. Many people come to this attraction to test and improve their fitness.
If you are looking for a less challenging walk, Mt Dandenong boasts a number of scenic walking trails where you can see the most scenic views of the surrounding area. Hardy Gully Nature is challenging, however the Stables Track Loop trail is medium difficulty and the walking trails near Sherbrooke are low to medium difficulty trails.
For kids, there is no better adventure than taking a ride on the famous Puffing Billy Train ride. The Puffing Billy railway is a historic steam train that starts at Belgrave and runs through the mountainous region of the Dandenong Ranges. The train ride is a beautiful scenic tour that has visitors marvelling at the beautiful Dandenong Ranges as the train rumbles by.
