Grey Gum Track Walk is an easy walk that provides visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while visiting the Silvan Reservoir.
The walking trail is short at just 2.4 kilometres (return) and has an easy grade. This makes it perfect for those who are just getting the hang of hiking, for families as well as those who are up for a relaxing leisurely stroll.

Grey Gum Track Walk starts at the same point where the Messmate Track Circuit begins. Head out to the northern part of the parking area and take the few steps down. The area is generally grassy and has lots of weeds, but this foliage thins out the further you walk from the parking area. It is important to note that a number of the track sections are overgrown, so keep an eye on your footing as you explore this track walk.
On arriving at the dual stairs, take a left turn and follow through on the track to the parking area. During the walk you will notice the biodiversity of the flora and fauna in the area around the reservoir, perhaps a testament to the preservation efforts. Bird lovers will especially love the abundant birdlife near Silvan Reservoir. Some of the species to look out for include parrots, kookaburras and Crimson Rosellas.
