Living Bush Nature Walk is located in the scenic Ferntree Gully Area of Dandenong Ranges Park. This walk is an excellent choice for those who prefer a gentle track or for those walking with children.
The walking track begins at the beautiful Acacia Picnic Ground, just across the bridge from the kids playground. It is well signposted, and is hard to miss.

Additionally, walkers and joggers will be able to enjoy the fern-covered gullies that give way to towering eucalyptus trees into the Messmate Forest. One of the most popular sections of the walk is the Musk Avenue that provides a great viewing point of the lush forest and damp fern gullies. In addition to this, the region around the walk is home to diverse bird species. Look out for Cockatoos, Rosellas and Kookaburras.
The length of the walk track is approximately 3 kilometres, and it takes about 45 minutes to complete the partial circuit. Considering that the walk has an easy grade and is easily accessible from the park, it is easy to see why this is a choice destination for many adventure-lovers.
To get to Living Bush Nature Walk by car, use Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and drive up to the end before getting to a turn-off. There is signage indicating ‘Welcome to Dandenong Ranges National Park’ which is where the entry point is.
Amenities present in the region include a playground to keep the little ones occupied, car parking and picnic areas. Due to the number of native animals in the park, dogs are not permitted.
