O’Donohue Picnic Ground

O’Donohue Picnic Ground is a hidden gem tucked away in the beautiful Sherbrooke Forest, right in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges.

With a number of picnic tables and walking tracks located around the picnic grounds, this is a great place to come with your friends and family to spend a day in the outdoors.

There are a number of picnic tables across the grounds and free electric BBQs. There is a wide and well-maintained green lawn on location at the picnic grounds, providing the perfect backdrop for a picnic day at O’Donohues. While there are shaded sections in the park, there are no sheltered picnic areas, so it is also a good idea to bring a picnic blanket so you can enjoy the shade on those hot summer days.

One of the most popular activities to enjoy at O’Donohue Picnic Ground is to take a stroll down the walking tracks near the grounds. The Sherbrooke Falls trail is just a short distance from the picnic grounds. This trail is considered easy to moderate and is 2.4kms in length, taking around 1 hour to complete a return journey. There is a viewing platform at the falls where you can get the best view, but there are some stairs so is not suitable for those with limited mobility. A longer walk is known as the Sherbrooke Loop which is around 4.8kms and is relatively flat.

O’Donohue Picnic Ground has unisex toilets on site that is also wheelchair accessible. You can get to the picnic grounds via Sherbrooke Lodge Road and there is parking nearby. Please note that dogs are not permitted anywhere inside the Dandenong Ranges National Park.
