Cycling is one of the best ways to experience the charm of the scenic Dandenong Ranges, and there is no better place to do this than by cycling The Wall.
The Wall is one of the Dandenong Ranges’ most popular cycling routes and runs between Monbulk and Olinda over 5kms.
The Wall Cycling Climb Route, Monbulk to Olinda, Dandenong Ranges
The route takes on the climb up the ranges all the way through to the peak located in the township of Olinda. Unlike other popular cycling routes in the region, The Wall has an overall gradual gradient but obtained its name from the fact that it has two steep sections, giving the illusion of a wall. There is a sharp hairpin turn at about 1km into the climb and the most difficult climb is at the 2km mark where the road hits a 10% gradient.
The ride will take you past the beautiful Cloudehill Gardens and the popular R.J Hamer Arboretum, so if making the return journey, make sure to stop by these beautiful locations on your way back.
